Fine Dining in Vienna: Tian Restaurant

Austria

TIAN has truly lifted fine dining to a whole new level thanks to its visionary chef Paul Ivić, and founder Christian Halper.  Respecting natural cycles, TIAN pays attention to preferably organic products, created in a fair way. The seasonal ingredients are predominantly supplied by regional partners, that understand and adhere to their high standards of quality concerning fresh food. The name TIAN is not a coincidence by the way. It is the Chinese word for “heaven”, as well as a French vegetarian stew.  With TIAN they have both fulfilled a longstanding dream: vegetarian food prepared in a way that will have your taste buds tingling while indulging all your senses. The experience was one of our fullest and most special so far: incredible flavours, exceptional staff, phenomenal juice pairing. Otherwise it's hard to describe the feeling, you must try it. Let food enriches our lives! Read on to get inspired, and then go and visit TIAN.

Women's Day Interview: The Beach People

Australia

We wanted to seize International Women's Day with a very special story this is year. In search of beautiful, strong women we came across the two superwomen behind The Beach People. The Beach People was founded in the summer of 2013 by sisters Emma Henderson and Victoria Beattie in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales Australia. Inspired by their family, friends and seaside lifestyle, with their passion for creating beautiful and iconic products, their first collection of round towels sold out in weeks. A few short years later, they are building a globally admired brand of seaside luxe essentials for everyone, everywhere to enhance one’s living spaces and life experiences from the beach to home. Emma and Victoria both are surrounded by men who think women are strong, capable and equal. We sat down with Emma for a quick interview so we can admire even more what they do as women, sisters, and mothers.

Ruby Marie

Austria

Thanks to our recent visits and welcoming atmosphere, Vienna has started to feel a lot like home. When there’s no GPS needed to get around our favourite neighbourhoods, the Wi-Fi connects instantly in certain coffee shops or you know the menu by heart at Naschmarkt’s greatest gems, each visit feels a lot like homecoming – quite rightfully. This feeling’s just got spoiled by Ruby Hotels’ one-off hospitality. We’ve stayed at Ruby Marie the other week, which is situated right in Vienna’s 7th district at the corner of Mariahilfer Straße, 10 mins walk from Museums Quartier. Ruby Hotels approach to hospitality is so-called ‘lean luxury’, which is all about having a lean organizational structure and concentrating on the essentials. Minimalism, if you like. Ruby strives to create a contemporary, design-oriented yet affordable accommodation for the modern travellers.

Pierre Augustin Rose

France

Pierre Augustin Rose no longer needs introduction in design-savy circles. Drawing upon the Bauhaus or Picasso as inspiration, the trio have created one of the most coveted furniture series last year. No surprise that with the current emphasis on timelessness, Pierre Augustin Rose seduces interior designers, as well as some of the most refined individuals all around the world- those interested in reinventing, magnifying their homes and offices.  Pierre Augustin Rose is an association of styles belonging to three singular personalities; Pierre Bénard, Augustin Deleuze and Nina Rose. An immoderate love for singular places, a perpetually curious view on furniture and heritage of the great names of the XXth century- that is the key to the creative wealth of the young maison Pierre Augustin Rose. Simple lines is what would best define the way the collection reveals itself, often with a very innovative design that doesn’t collide with the classics of refined furniture. The talent of these designers hides behind their enlightened eyes as antique dealers, from which they allow the past to communicate with the contemporary pieces they create.

Pachamama East

United Kingdom

We had the pleasure to dine in one of London's freshest gastro gems in the hip neighbourhood of Shoreditch. Keen to know our first impression? Love at first sight sums it up just right; attentive staff, delicious-looking dishes served in pretty ceramics, a great dash of plants and flowers backdropped with concrete walls. Opened in November 2018, Pachamama East is focused on fresh seasonal produce, applying the bold flavours, aromas, textures and spices that make Asian food so utterly tasty. The restaurant offers a unique experience to its sister sites, which have developed a strong following for their vibrant food and ambience, as it is the first to explore the delicious spectrum of Asian flavours that are inherent in Peruvian cuisine. For those that are interested the behind-the-scenes secrets we've got great news; Pachamama East operates with an open kitchen. If you were wondering about the name though, Pachamama is an Andean goddess, revered by the Inca people of Peru. She presides over harvesting and is considered to be Mother Earth and Mother Nature. Connecting the people to the land, she is worshipped as a benevolent deity and it is believed if you treat the land well - the land will provide for you.

Editor's picks: TOP 5 bars

Every time we visit a new city, a day filled with meetings cannot end more rewarding than a drink in a local bar, you may agree. We all have our preferences whether it’s a cocktail, a mocktail, a locally brewed specialty beer or a glass of wine on a busy terrace in the heart of the city, or in a secret bar furnished with designer goods tucked away from tourist traps. This post is dedicated to the latter; despite the different locations these bars have a lot in common such as innovative drinks, appreciably attentive service and lush interior. Each of the bars is prepared to do things its own way that’s what makes them special, exclusive and versatile in they own rights.
